About this event

WHO

A course for those Parent Carers interested in issues around Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, with a focus on the more positive aspects of these conditions. It is particularly useful for parents whose child is about to be assessed or those who have a diagnosis for Dyslexia or Dyscalculia and wish to empower their child to feel more comfortable and confident about the condition and be able to proudly speak to others about it.

WHAT

This session introduces some of the more neglected positive aspects and benefits of neurodiversity. Dyslexia is often described as a superpower yet those with it can often be given negative messages about themselves and feel left behind, we want to celebrate the positives and gifts that being dyslexic brings. The course is led by professional trainers, who are themselves neurodivergent as well as being Parent Carers with neurodiverse children.

WHERE

Unique ways, Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre, Hanson Lane, Halifax, HX1 5PG

WHEN

Tuesday 28th June 2022 – 10.00 – 1230 - Lunch Included

WHY

We want to raise awareness and help people with the conditions to lean into their strengths and create more fulfilling and happier futures for themselves, by being ambitious and seeing their own value we can undo some of the damage that the challenges they face can create.

BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Unique Ways is a small charity and our programme of training courses which we provide free of charge to parent carers have a significant cost to us. To secure a place you will be required to pay a £5.00 refundable deposit for all of our training courses when booking. Upon completion of the course, this will be refunded to you in full. Any retained fees will contribute to deposit and refund processing and administration costs.

All our Training Courses need a minimum of 8 parent carers to go ahead.

Unfortunately, we have experienced a high volume of parent carers signing up for our courses and then not attending. We understand that there will be genuine reasons why you cannot attend a course, or all sessions of a course, you signed up for, but we ask that you please advise us in advance if possible as a courtesy to other parent carers who are on the waiting list, otherwise, you are preventing other parent carers getting on the course.

Refunds are available up to 7 days before the beginning of the course. Refunds within 7 days will be at Unique Ways discretion. By cancelling your place and receiving your refund, you will open up a place for another parent carer.
